You may access and view case files at our Brockton or Plymouth location.
In order to access and view a case file, you must know the case docket number. If you do not know the docket number, you may obtain it from the public computer index terminals at either location or at the Registry of Deeds location, 50 Obery Street, Plymouth. The information in the index terminals is not presently available on the internet.
The following types of matters are stored in Brockton and usually may be view there without advance notice:
- Domestic Abuse (209A)
The following types of matters are stored in Plymouth and usually may be viewed there without advance notice:
- Domestic Relations
- Estates and Wills
- Change of Name
In the event that you wish to view a case file, but are unable to visit the storage location, you may request that the file be brought to the other court location by filling out a Request to View File form (link) and submitting it to us at least two (2) full days before the requested view date. We will attempt to accommodate your request, but note that files are sometimes not immediately available, as they may be in the possession of a judge or staff member for required work. Delivery of the file to the requested location also needs to be arranged.
Paternity cases filed before April, 1998 and Adoption files can only be accessed by parties or attorneys of record. These files are segregated/impounded. Identification is required to view these files. If you need to view one of these type files, you will be required to produce a picture ID. (Driver’s License, bar card, etc.)
